Ticket Sales Tip of the Week #66
(The variables impacting retention)
To pick up from yesterday’s report which highlighted the misleading value perception created by the inflated and deflated ticket prices on the secondary which both hurt retention, today I’ll highlight the stars countering this to protect the membership/committed buyers offering.
Major League Stars- John Santana Sr. Dir of TS Toronto Blue Jays
In April, May and with a last place team in ’24 September, the Jays offer a “lead off” package which is a GA ticket for $100.00 per month which allows transfer but not resell. The program spikes attendance, boosts F&B, fills unwanted inventory and doesn’t flood the secondary which would lower price perception.
Major League Stars- Zee French VP of TS Houston Rockets
Members who use their tickets in the most advantages manner for the Rockets (early arrival, personal check in, every ticket scanned) are recognized at a year end on court half time ceremony with valuable self selected prizes. Personal check in and early arrival rewards encourages member use or member friends/family use which reduces inventory on the secondary.
Minor League Stars- Gavin Riches AGM Colorado Eagles
The Eagles proactively help members build business and social networks plus charity options for their Season Ticket holders to distribute tickets they can’t personally use. In addition to protecting the secondary market floor by eliminating unwanted tickets, when members aren’t looking at unused seats from the previous year they’re more likely to renew.
