Ticket Sales Tip of the Week #71
(Why are last minute tickets always available)

It’s often not what you think as it’s rarely connected the lack of demand perception. The tickets weren’t available as season or group tickets so why are seat available the day or morning before the game?

Two main reasons:

1) Visiting teams have an allotment of seats put aside for them to purchase. Should they elect not to buy they become open inventory.

2) Teams support *Season Ticket holders selling their seats by broadcasting to recognized ticket buyers that seats are available.
* depending on fees, this can be viewed as a feature or price gouging.

By allowing ticket exchange and buy back option for some games last spring, they reduced secondary inventory on the market while benefitting members.

The Magic eliminate this issue by allowing members Ticket Exchange or the option to exchange for a concession credit to be used that season.
