Ticket Sales Tip of the Week-#87
(The Power of Game Day Promotions)

A year ago I offered a diehard Jays fan tickets to any game in the month, without hesitation he asked for Dollar Dog Tuesday. A Red Sox home date vs the Jays on a June Monday with a Bucket Hat, outdrew the Friday night Yankee game at Fenway in July.
Promotions can support traditional weak dates in the schedule, convert an average game into premium priced event or it can be a channel to funnel groups into early season dates.

Major League Star- Joshua Nanavaty VP of TS San Jose Sharks
By hosting Joe Thornton retirement game in November vs Buffalo (as oppose to Joe’s preference being the Boston game in March), Josh converted an average game into the years biggest gate. Boston will likely still be top 3.

Minor League Star- Matthew Kalister Sr VP Cleveland Monsters AHL Hockey
The well promoted Teddy Bear toss Sunday game is a 50% attendance bump to early season Sunday gates and they host it during an NFL Sunday.

Special Mention- Michelle Seniuk, Marnie Starkman and John Santana
The Blue Jays made the promotion reveal an event last Saturday after 28 other MLB teams and just before the Yankee game in the Spring.
