Ticket Sales Tip of the Week #101
(Is your Rainout policy ticket buyer friendly)

Whether this applies to membership or group tickets, does your Rainout policy put your buyers interests ahead of yours?

With the ability to delay ticket buying commitments due to the Verified secondary market, teams need to support ticket sales rep hunting down advanced ticket sales by filtering out the variables that don’t support the buyer.

A year ago, the Rainout policy for a baseball teams turned my friends 64 person primary ticket sales midweek order 3 months before the game (out of town convention) into a 22 seat order (42 had since made plans) the day before.

Today, a terrific young rep reached out to me about an equally baffling Rainout policy where the full series buyers (event divided into sessions to share) aren’t credited by a rainout unlike the single session buyer who is.

Major League Stars- Frances Traisman SVP Seattle Mariners
The Mariners allow Season Ticket holders to exchange any game which allows fan to transfer out of any date for any reason which includes weather.

Minor League Stars- Erik Eisenberg VPTS Las Vegas Aviators
The Aviators allow groups to grow or contract right up to game time recognizing that severe heat or rain isn’t a great trial experience for group fans.
