Ticket Sales Tip of the Week #105
(Host games when you have less competition for eyeballs)

It’s not a coincidence that the PGA tour invented a playoff format that wraps up the third weekend in August before College and NFL football seasons start.

Baseball starting in April at any level baffles me. Weather is questionable in 70% of markets and it’s competing against NBA and NHL playoffs.

This weeks, with MLB’s regular games off for 4 days, MiLB could have played meaningful games on Monday, MLS soccer could also have scheduled Thursday matches, and had the Barracuda Championship (the B event to the British Open in Golf) started on Tuesday night and finished Friday, it would have filled dead sports airspace and avoided competing on date vs the British Open weekend.

Major League Stars- Don Garber Commissioner of MLS Soccer
28 teams playing on the only Wednesday this season that won’t feature 30 MLB teams.

Without MLB and MLS to compete against, the Montreal vs Toronto football game will broadcast on TSN and CBS Sports Network as a professional sports option for those looking to watch a team sport.

Major League Stars- Ron Price former COO of the PGA tour
Smart enough to host the PGA event to the West coast to capture the east coast night time golf audience not compete in time slot vs the British Open
