Ticket Sales Tip and the Stars behind them- Week #18
In follow up to last weeks tip when I highlighted that less than 7k people witnessed Joey Bats become the first Jay to hit 50 HR in 1 year during a 2010 midweek matinee, this week I’m going to highlight a few brilliant minds from Milb who may have taught us all how to sell midweek matinees.
Matt Guay (Assistant GM Indianapolis Indians) may have said it 5 years ago during my first visit to Victory field. “As long as we can sell matinee tickets, everybody (players, front office and game day staff) appreciates having a bonus midweek night off during the baseball season”. In addition to schools and camps, the Indians host a great business day lunch at the park offer.
Chip Allen (former ASG Durham Bulls: current Commissioner of the Coastal Plain League) humbly highlighted that schools and camps love Durham Bulls baseball. What they also do is highlight during the visits that kids eat free on Wednesday which often spikes the gate the day after the school bus ride.
Mike Melega (President/GM Tulsa Drillers) who if I showed you his attendance charts you might think his Wednesday fell on the weekend. In addition to targeting schools in April, May and September and camps during the summer months, the June 7th date which trumped his Sunday by 50% included Daycares.
