Ticket Sales Tip of the Week #120
(Fans: Buy holiday tickets early. Leagues: Jam the holiday schedule)
MLB and Milb biggest date is July 4th, the NBAs largest revenue per game gate is Christmas Day and the NFL now has 3 Christmas day and 3 Thanksgiving dates. The reason, people are off work and knowing where they’re going to be supports the runway to buy tickets.
For the #NBA, #NFL and #NHL, Black Friday, Boxing Day and New Years day create 4-8 day holiday windows that should all be classified as platinum dates, anchors to sell remaining inventory and the launch to next seasons renewal.
Fun holiday stats-
#NBA New York Knicks Christmas day secondary market game entry price was $416 vs the Cavs, the previous high was $241 vs the Celtics.
#NHL Buffalo Sabres Dec 27th date not only sold out for the 4th time all year, the game day price was @ $126 was 4x the season high Leaf game.
#Milb- The leagues stagger the schedule to ensure every team hosts on July 3rd or July 4th which is a top 4 gate for everyone of the 60 teams.
*Suggestion- At the next #NHL Collective Bargaining agreement, for the benefit of your fans and team gate, eliminate the 3 day Christmas break.
