Ticket Sale Tip Week #31
As a follow up to last week’s note, what would the market think of the mid week Wild card games? The Phillies were the exception.
Philly, the strongest baseball market with an 8pm first pitch made for an uneven playing field. That said, had the games start times been released earlier (all the home teams were set Aug 23rd ) it might have been a better outcome.
Game 1 results: Tampa’s had the smallest gates (below 20k) while the 3pm and 5pm start times in Minnesota and Milwaukee saw discounts at 4x below box office rates and well below membership playoff pricing.
My suggestion- start the Wild Card games on the weekend.
Prediction- the ALDS and NLDS midweek games following game 1 and 2 already played will draw bigger crowds and much healthier comparable secondary prices then the Wildcard
