Ticket Sales Tip of the Week #89
(It’s time to recognize the fans who build the atmosphere?)
The teams who produce the entertainment fans are watching should retain as much of the ticket value as possible. Teams cross the line when they list under Season ticket holder (STH) benefits the ability to sell tickets and then double dip services fees to the seller in addition to the buyer.
Potential STH solutions: 1) Offer to buy back the seats at the STH rate.
2) Offer ticket exchange for a future date 3) Offer a preferred fan STH rate for tickets they can’t post for sale.
Option 3 is my favorite as it helps keep it affordable for teams to retain their best fans and reduces secondary inventory to protect ticket values.
Major League Stars- Greg Beadles President of the Atlanta Falcons who offer in June to buy back any or all games from members. John Santana- Toronto Blue Jays offer a discounted Lead off pack for General Admission April/May ticket membership for seats that can’t be sold.
Minor League Stars- Samantha Davis VP of Ticket Sales Chicago Wolves
Starting with Ticket Exchange for members, the Wolves also put your name on your seat, freeze prices with commitment, comp you a Jersey, guarantee the giveaway from every game and offer a cash back program.
